As BYU’s sponsor, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints subsidizes tuition prices with its members’ tithing funds. In principle, each student attending BYU is on scholarship.

Considering that College Board reports the average private four-year tuition and fees as over $29,000, BYU’s price tag cannot be beat. Each year, undergraduate students at BYU pay nearly $24,000 less in tuition than other private universities.
